Following the success of its original series of timepieces that celebrate the life of legendary author Ernest Hemingway, Cuervo y Sobrinos has created a new collection of watches specifically dedicated to the famous writer and loyal customer of the brand. The two Icònico models feature either cream or tobacco-colored dials that embody the hues that would have surrounded Hemingway during the years that he called the island nation his home. Meanwhile, “The Fisherman” GMT variant embraces a rich blue colorway that recalls Hemingway’s love of the ocean. Each of the new Historiador Hemingway Icònico models is produced as a limited edition of 882 examples, while the Historiador Hemingway GMT “The Fisherman” will be offered as an exclusive limited edition of just 288 pieces.
Despite their differences, all three of the new watches that make up the Cuervo y Sobrinos Historiador Hemingway collection feature the same stainless steel case that offers a distinct vintage-inspired appearance and measures 40mm in diameter by 11.75mm-thick. Similarly, all three of the new limited-edition Historiador Hemingway watches feature double-domed sapphire crystals with anti-reflective treatment above their dials, along with signed screw-down winding crowns at the 3 o’clock location, which help support their 100 meters of water resistance. With that in mind, while the two Historiador Hemingway Icònico models feature smooth fixed bezels with solid casebacks that are engraved with the Hemingway logo, the GMT variant features a bezel with a 24-hour scale, along with a display-style caseback that has a sapphire window to showcase its internal movement.
The dials fitted to the two Cuervo y Sobrinos Historiador Hemingway Icònico models are either cream or tobacco-colored, although each version features different colored text and accents. The cream dial has its printing in black, red, and blue, while the tobacco-colored dial has its text in white, rose gold, and red.
